Avis Lavern Johnson, beloved mother, sister, aunt and daughter, of Detroit Lakes, passed away peacefully at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at age 79.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Iva Johnson and her daughter, Cherri Koeberl.
Avis is survived by her loving children Deb (Russ) Mull, Greg (Rose) Johnson, Missy (Dennis) Hutter and son-in-law Tom Koeberl; grandchildren, Ryan (Danielle) Carlson, Trisha Carlson, Carly and Ross Koeberl, Rachel (Michael) Herman, Anna Johnson, Catherine, Marisa and Brenton Knutzen, Ali, Brianna, Jake and Cole Hutter; great grandchildren, Anya, Mia, Freya Carlson and Arianna Herman; and sisters, Ellie (Warren) Engberg, Phyllis (Al) Wefel, Audrey (Ralph) Hamann and Jenny Holmes; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday July 20 at the White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave. S., Burnsville, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service.
Avis loved to sing alto in church and for fun. She worked at a Detroit Lakes radio station as a young woman and later at the local county office and many other places after marriage. She was a skilled seamstress and cook.
Avis was an avid and passionate researcher for ancestry documentation for her family tree and on behalf of friends and relatives.
