Bail set at $150,000 in domestic assault
Bail has been set at $150,000 for a man accused of domestic assault.
Tabashish Anamiki Ogitchida, also known as Benjamin James Bellanger, 33, of 25647 Bear Clan Drive, Ogema is charged in Becker County District Court with felony domestic assault and third-degree criminal damage to property, a gross misdemeanor.
According to court records:
On Thursday, tribal police received a report that he was at a woman's residence, in violation of a no-contact order put in place after a Jan. 26 charge of felony domestic assault.
The woman told police she heard someone pounding on the door. When she opened it, Ogitchida allegedly came in yelling and swearing. He allegedly swatted at her face and pushed her.
He allegedly knocked her eyeglasses off her face and broke them with his hands. After he left the residence, he allegedly took a log and threw it through the rear window of the woman's mother's vehicle.
Ogitchida appeared Friday before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail or bond at $250,000 without conditions, or $150,000 with standard conditions of release. An omnibus hearing has been set for Feb. 22.
