Barbara J. Glander, 63, of Detroit Lakes,, died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Essentia Health St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes.
Barb was born the daughter of Clinton and Lauretta (Profit) Bennor on October 19, 1947 in Park Rapids. She was raised and educated in Akeley, Minn. Barb was united in marriage to Edwin Glander on June 12, 1967 in Menahga. They made their home in Park Rapids for a couple of years, before moving to Detroit Lakes. Barb stayed at home to raise their daughters. She later worked at the Lakes Crisis Center and the last 11 years at Lakeshirts, until her health forced her to retire.
Barb loved gardening, and especially tending to her flower gardens. She also did quilting, sewing and embroidery. Barb was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed fishing with her husband, Ed.
Surviving Barb are her husband, Ed Glander of Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Darlene Smith of Detroit Lakes and Amanda (Richard) Lindeman of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, Heather, Cody and Courtney; one brother, David Bennor of Park Rapids; four sisters, Lela Glander of Park Rapids, Doris Austad of Rice Lake, Wis., Betty (Mike) Nethercutt of Backus, Minn., and Ellen (Dan) Worcester of Oak Grove City, Minn.; uncle, Merle Profit of Park Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Barb in death were her parents and son-in-law, Robert Smith.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, March 4 at Christian Fellowship Church, Detroit Lakes, with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
