Barbara Windecker

Barbara Windecker, 58, of Bagley, Minn., died on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

Barbara was born the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Schmelar) LaFriniere on Sept. 26, 1950. She graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1968 and attended Bemidji State University. She married Ronald Stevens and they lived in Mahnomen. Barbara worked at the Mahnomen School, the Nay-Tah-Waush Post Office and the Head start in Nay-Tah-Waush. She and Ronald later divorced.

Barbara married Perry Windecker on July 27, 1991 at Alida, Minn. They moved to the Bagley area. She worked at the Bagley school as the home school coordinator and in special education. She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, crafts, flowers and the embroidering orders with Perry. She always had a special place in her heart for the kids in Mr. C's class.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Perry Windecker of Bagley; daughters, Stacy Lorino of Ocala, Fla., and Kim (Jamie) Stevens of Borup, Minn.; sons, Robbie (Michelle) Stevens of Mahnomen, Cory (Anna) Stevens of Dilworth, Vance (Jennifer) Stevens of Mahnomen and Chad (Sheila) Stevens of Bagley; stepdaughters, Miranda (Mike) Zopfi and Carmen Windecker, both of Moorhead, and Shelby Windecker of Fargo; brothers, Ronald LaFriniere, LeRoy "Bud" (Pam) LaFriniere, Robert LaFriniere, Richard (Connie) LaFriniere and Kenneth "Beans" (Bonnie) LaFriniere, all of Mahnomen, and Jim (Gloria) LaFriniere of Bagley; sisters, Judy Roy of Carlton, Minn., Debra (Cleve) Goodwin of Bagley and Amelia (Herb) Roy of Mahnomen; 18 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Preceding Barbara in death were her parents; sister, Marilyn Goodwin; nephews, Jeff Roy and Tim Roy; and nieces, Leila LaFriniere and Karen LaFriniere.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley, continuing for one hour prior to Thursday's services at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Bagley, with Mardy Schermerhorn and John Omans officiating.

Interment will be at the Alida Lutheran Cemetery in Alida, Minn. The Cease Family Funeral Home in Bagley is assisting the family with arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent to
