Beatles tribute comes to Fargo March 10

Singer-songwriter Lindsay Mac, who plays the cello like a guitar, performs at 7:30 p.m. today (Sunday) in the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. The 18th annual Perham Trade & Home Show runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today at the Perham Area Community Center. The PACC will be filled with food, vendors and live entertainment. Tickets are $3, with children age 6 and under admitted free.

The public is invited to a meeting of the 412 Lakes chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in the Detroit Lakes Library. It is open to anyone interested in the preservation of antique automobiles; there is free membership in 2009. You do not need to own an antique car to belong.

Community theater returns to the lakes area as Summit Productions presents the enduring whodunit, "The Mousetrap," as the debut production of the community theater group, The Summit Avenue Players, in four performances on Feb. 28, March 1 and March 7-8. In this classic thriller, a group of strangers stranded at the dark and foreboding Monkswell Manor realize to their horror that a killer is among them. The Holmes Ballroom will be transformed into a gothic dinner theatre for the event. A cash bar and hors d'oeuvres/dessert menu will be available. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 7, and 3 p.m. on March 1 and 8. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students. Sign Stages on Tour will present two performances of the children's play "Dr. Dolittle" on Tuesday, March 3, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Detroit Lakes' Historic Holmes Theatre. In this colorful, creative adaptation of the classic story of "Dr. Dolittle," we are introduced to the good doctor who gives up treating people after "Polynesia," his parrot, teaches him animal languages. Sign Stage on Tour is a specialist in Sign Language Theatre where deaf and hearing actors perform together on stage. Tickets are $8 for individuals and $4 per student for school groups. All the music is performed live, with no pre-recorded tapes or sequences.
