BEMIDJI — Brylee Colligan ripped 17 kills and Emily Falldorf added 15 to lead the attack and the Bemidji High School volleyball team improved to 2-0 with Thursday's home victory over Detroit Lakes.

The Lumberjacks took the first game 25-16 and won the second set 25-23. Detroit Lakes claimed the third game 25-21 but BHS ended the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.

"Both teams went back and forth," said Bemidji coach Teresa Colligan. "At times we were making too many errors but we were able to recover."

The key stretch in the match came in the second game. Bemidji trailed Detroit Lakes 15-4 but was able to regain in composure and win the set by claiming 21 of the next 29 points.

That win gave BHS a bit of a cushion and the Lumberjacks would need it as the Lakers rallied to force a fourth game.

"We had a lead but then we made some errors and Detroit Lakes took advantage of them," Colligan said.

The fourth game was over early as BHS forged a nice lead and the Lakers couldn't recover.

"We did many good things in the fourth game and we had control the entire time," the coach said.

Alexa Greendahl also had a productive night as the senior had nine kills, 27 set assists and three aces. Falldorf finished with four blocks while Karlie Leif collected 33 digs.
