Bemidji Music Depart tryouts are March 1
The Bemidji State University Department of Music will hold auditions for entrance into the program and for scholarships Saturday, March 1, in the Thompson Recital Hall of the university’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.
The auditions are open to instrumentalists and vocalists who are interested in either entering or transferring to Bemidji State in the fall of 2014. Auditions are also open to those who wish to participate in music activities, but who are not pursuing a music degree.
Music scholarships available at Bemidji State include full-tuition scholarships for Minnesota residents, housing scholarships, a number of endowed scholarships and numerous cash awards. Students unable to be present at the auditions in March may schedule an audition at another time. Students interested in full- or partial-tuition scholarships must audition in person, but recorded auditions are accepted for all other scholarships and awards.
Scholarship recipients perform at a special concert on campus each fall. This year, more than 45 students participated in the scholarship recognition performance, held Sept. 19.
Bemidji State’s Department of Music has a long and distinguished reputation for musical performance and academic training. Students, regardless of major, participate in a wide variety of performance settings, including concert band and wind ensemble, jazz band, orchestra, choirs, operas, and chamber music experiences.
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and also acknowledged by Steinway & Sons as an “All-Steinway School,” the department offers a bachelor of arts degree in music and a bachelor of science degree in music education.
Students who would like to schedule an audition or apply for a scholarship should contact Susan Nelson at email@example.com, or (218) 755-3364.
