O'Donnell was hospitalized March 27, after being hit by a car while volunteering to direct traffic for EVAC during the 2009 Flood Fight.

O'Donnell was working the truck route on North University Drive when a speeding car hit him.

He suffered a broken neck, two fractured ankles and a broken wrist.

A halo was placed to stabilize his broken neck and O'Donnell has worn it for the last three months.

It could take up to a year for O'Donnell to be completely healed and due to his long hospital stay and recovery time, he has been unable to work, while his bills have been accumulating.

The Fargo EVAC volunteer is currently employed with the Army and Air Force ROTC program at North Dakota State University.

Admission to the benefit is $10, where a spaghetti dinner will be served starting at 6:30 p.m.

A silent auction will be held from 6-9 p.m. and the dance begins at 8 p.m.

Just the Guys and $2 Pistols will be providing the music.

Donations can also be made by mail, at Shawn O'Donnell Benefit Fund, c/o State Bank and Trust, 409 Sheyenne St., West Fargo, N.D. 58078.

Or an online donation can be made at www.dakmed.org/lendahand.

Dakota Medical Foundation's Lend a Hand program has agreed to match up to $5,000 of donations.
