Benefit Wednesday for injured waitress, mother of three
The Jess Omundson Post 1676 Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting a benefit Wednesday for one its waitresses that was seriously hurt in a car accidents in early October.
Shantay Washburn is a single mother of three, according to a flyer advertising the benefit.
VFW employees will be donating their time and tips will go to the benefit.
Washburn will be coming home soon to Detroit Lakes with a home nurse helping with her care. She is waiting for vertebrae to heal before she can have additional surgery.
She was taken to a Fargo hospital by a Life Flight helicopter where she had emergency surgery to repair her liver.
The benefit dinner runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the DL Cloggers providing live entertainment.
A homemade meatloaf dinner will be served, with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and a roll, along with coffee and cookies. The cost of the dinner is $10.
All proceeds will go toward medical expenses.
