Bernice M. Sauer, 90, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Summit Place in Eden Prairie, Minn.
A mass of Christian burial for Bernice has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, with Monsignor Timothy McGee officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, and for one hour prior to the mass Friday at the church.
Bernice Mathilda Sauer was born to John F. and Rosalie (Weisser) Ebnet on January 9, 1922 in St. Cloud, Minn. She graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1939. Following graduation, she worked for Chargail Manufacturing in St. Cloud.
Bernice was united in marriage to Roy Sauer June 23, 1947 in St. Cloud. They made their home in Detroit Lakes. Roy died in 1999. Bernice moved to Summit Place in Eden Prairie in November 2011.
Bernice enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, relaxing at the cabin on Long Lake, a good laugh and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Mary) Sauer of Eden Prairie; a daughter, Jaci (Pam Dudziak) Sauer of Bloomington, Minn.; four grandchildren, Julie (Stephen) Doig of Melbourne, Australia, Becky (Justin Ball) Sauer of Beaverton, Ore., Olivia Dudziak and Delilah Dudziak, both of Bloomington; and two sisters, Rose Marie Hartman of Ferguson, Mo., and Donna Mae Stroeing of St. Cloud.
In addition to her husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Ebnet.
