Blood drive brings in 27 units

Members of the Detroit Lakes Christian Women's Club, from left, Ruth Seal, Norma Birchem, Sue Christensen and Corrine Frank, helped with a United Services blood drive last month.

Saturday, Dec. 20, the Detroit Lakes Christian Women's Club sponsored a United Blood Services blood drive in the National Guard Armory.

Despite the snowy, blustery weather conditions, 28 people registered to donate, resulting in 27 units of lifesaving blood for the Detroit Lakes community.

The Christian Women's Club encourages other local organizations to sponsor blood drives. Making phone calls from donor lists, advertising before the drive and registering people and providing refreshments the day of the drive is all you do. It is also a great way to meet giving people and learn the facts of blood donation needs.
