Bomb squad detonates corroded grenade found along river in Moorhead
A man looking for artifacts along the Red River north of the Hjemkomst Center here found a corroded grenade Sunday night, police said.
Upon inspection, the Red River Valley Regional Bomb Squad determined the grenade was aged but authentic. They used explosives for a controlled detonation around 9:45 p.m.
Police aren't sure how the grenade ended up in the river, but it appears to have been there for some time. The grenade is believed to be from the World War II era.
