Boys & Girls Clubs of DL, Perham host ‘Ride for the Future’ July 13
On Saturday, July 13, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Detroit Lakes and Perham will host its 2nd Annual Ride for the Future motorcycle ride to raise awareness for after school and summer programming provided to Becker and Otter Tail County youth.
“Last year was a lot of fun,” said Sue Trnka, resource development director for the Detroit Lakes and Perham clubs. “There were 15 bikes and 25 people on our ride last year.
“Everyone said they had a great time and were happy to connect with the mission of our organization. We hope they all come back this year – with friends!”
The purpose of the event is to highlight the programs offered to school-aged children at both Club units. Club programming focuses on academic success, healthy life choices, and community and civic involvement. Current attendance at the Clubs is averaging about 150 children per day.
Ride for the Future will begin with registration and check-in at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. Kickstands will go up at 11:30 a.m. and riders will tour an approximately 100-mile scenic route that includes a lunch stop at Ice Cracking Lodge and a rest stop at the Hostel Hornet in Frazee. The ride ends at the Pavilion around 5 p.m.
The cost of the ride is $20 per bike and $10 per 2-up passenger. Lunch is included. For more information and to register online, visit www.tinyurl.com/rff2013 or call Sue Trnka at 218-847-5700, Ext. 4.
