A natural hat trick -- plus one -- by Wadena-Deer Creek forward Joey Osborn torpedoed the Detroit Lakes boys' hockey team Tuesday night.

The scoring barrage by Osborn capped a 6-2 win over the Lakers, which extends DL's losing streak to six games and their record to 5-12-0.

DL held a 2-1 advantage in the second period, before the Wolverines tore off with five unanswered goals -- four of them by Osborn -- which included a four-goal third period.

The Lakers notched two straight scores in the first period to answer Brandon Wing's opening goal 7:02 into the contest.

Josh Saunders put the puck past W-DC goalie Tyler Muehler 1:53 after Wing's goal on a power play opportunity, which was assisted by Nate Baker.

DL took the lead on a Baker score off of assists by Alex Phelps and Tanner Lane to hold a 2-1 margin heading into the second period.

Osborn's first score came in the second period, then he ripped off three more past DL goalie Chris Widme to take over the game.

Trevor Ness added his 47th point of the season and 30th goal to cap the scoring.

The Lakers couldn't take advantage of a dominating first period where they outshot the Wolverines (11-7-1) 13-2. DL finished with 35 shots on goal to W-DC's 28.

DL fell to Lake of the Woods Saturday by the score of 4-2, after being outshot 37-26.

The Bears (6-8-0) used a three-goal first period to take a 3-1 advantage, then held the Lakers down the remainder of the game.

The power play was used effectively by the home-team Bears, which went 3-7 to DL's 0-6 effort.

Andrew Friesen took the loss between the pipes with 33 saves, while DL's goal scorers were Andy Schupp and Lane -- who now has a team-leading 33 points with 16 goals and 17 assists.

The Lakers will look to snap their losing streak when they continue their road trip to Sauk Centre (6-9-1) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
