Boys Tennis: Fondrick, Howard reach finals at Lumberjack Open
BEMIDJI — Recently two of Detroit Lakes tennis players competed in the Lumberjack Open Tennis Tournament in Bemidji.
Caleb Howard and Alex Fondrick were matched against some familiar high school section 8AA opponents.
In singles, Fondrick made it to the championship match by defeating Ethan Comeau from Grand Forks (6-1, 6-0). However, he fell to Matt Hokanson of Bemidji (1-6, 3-6) to take the second place trophy.
Howard and Fondrick paired up in the doubles competition and won their first match (6-2, 7-6 (7)) over the Bemidji team of Garret Atteberry and Spencer Konecne.
In the championship match, the DL pair met another Bemidji team.
Fondrick and Howard took second place after playing Hokanson and Noah Holter (3-6, 0-6).
