BTD Manufacturing cuts 28 positions in Detroit Lakes
BTD Manufacturing in Detroit Lakes eliminated 28 positions last month.
Paul Gintner, President of BTD Manufacturing, said that the cuts were not traditional layoffs because it didn't involve existing workers left without a job suddenly.
He said that the job cuts came from existing workers who had separation packages already with the company. Gintner doesn't expect any layoffs in the near term.
The up-and-down nature of BTD Manufacturing's clients led to the cuts, Gintner said.
"Business conditions have deteriorated, just like everyone else in the manufacturing business," Gint-ner said.
With over 500 employees, Gintner said 5 percent of BTD Manufacturing's workforce was lost.
