BTD Manufacturing sponsors tour for college students
BTD Manufacturing Inc. of Detroit Lakes recently sponsored a tour for Machine Tool Technology students attending Central Lakes College's Staples campus.
The trip included a tour of BTD Manufacutring's production facilities.
"The tour included tool design areas, the metal stamping and die areas," said instructor Ronn Redemske. "Students experienced the manufacturing and maintenance of the machining industry and had an opportunity to see the newest technologies."
Redemske said the tour was "a wonderful opportunity for students to experience first-hand the machining industry and its many employment opportunities open to them."
Jeff Peichel of BTD Manufacturing arranged the tour. He said the firm has been hiring CLC graduates for several years.
BTD Manufacturing offers stamping, fabrication, tubing, welding, machining and tooling.
The college has Associate in Applied Science degree and diploma programs in Machine Tool Technology. It also offers diplomas in Manufacturing Maintenance Technician and Manufacturing Welding Technician.
In 2002, Machine Tool Technology at CLC received designation as a National Institute of Metalworking Skills Accredited Training program.
Other manufacturing career programs at the Staples campus of CLC are Mechanical Drafting and Design and Robotics/Automated Systems Technology.
