Buboltz on DLCCC board
After eight years as chairman of the board for the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center, DL Newspapers Publisher Dennis Winskowski has stepped down.
After serving four consecutive two-year terms, since its inception in 2001, Winskowski had reached the maximum term limit for a board position. He said he may return to the board in the future.
Former DL mayor Larry Buboltz was appointed to replace him as chair at the board's December meeting.
"Dennis has done a great job," Buboltz said. "I was very honored to be appointed to this board, and I'm equally honored to serve as chair.
"I think the community center is an extremely important part of Detroit Lakes. It has made a real difference in our community and is going to continue to do so in the future. I'm happy to be a part of that."
Buboltz has served on the board since March of this year. He retired from his position as mayor at the end of 2008, after 32 years in city government (as both alderman and mayor).
He was also appointed to the Detroit Lakes Public Utilities Commission in February of this year, and is currently the president of the Greater Minnesota Environmental Trust, a partner agency of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities that is focused on environmental issues.
