Tuesday, April 2
McAndrew concert rehearsal
All area singers (adult and youth ages 5 and up) are invited to perform with Nashville singer/songwriter John McAnd-rew on Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. in the Historic Holmes Theatre. A rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in the theatre to learn a few songs and meet John. To sing, please call 218-844-7469 to reserve your spot or just show up on Wednesday night.
Friday, April 4
'Dr. King's Dream'
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center will host two performances of the Mixed Blood Theatre production "Dr. King's Dream" at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4 -- the 40th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The first performance is primarily for youth and is free to children and accompanying adults. Tickets to the evening performance are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Call 218-385-3339 for info.
The Headwaters Center for Lifelong Learning will present a Dessert Theater from 7 to 9 p.m. at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. There will be two short performances, a Sherlock Holmes mystery and a comedy titled "Little White Lies." There will be a dessert and coffee intermission. Ladies' Night Out
The Frazee Event Center hosts Ladies' Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. There is no admission and food is available. Home-based parties, crafts and more.
Friday Night Alive
First Baptist Church hosts Friday Night Alive at 7 p.m. with contemporary worship music featuring the Anderson Family from Bagley and Peggy Cummings of DL. Refreshments will be served. It is free-will offering. For more info, call 847-4571 or 234-6115.
Saturday, April 5
Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes hosts a Chocolate Fantasy Extravaganza and theme basket silent auction from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For $5, get a plate full of chocolate delights.
All-City Choir Concert
The 34th Annual All-City Choir Festival Grand Finale Choir Concert is at 7:30 p.m. in the Ralph Anderson Gym at the Detroit Lakes High School. DL choir students in grades 6-12 will each perform two selections in their individual choirs and conclude the festival by combining to form a mass choir under the direction of guest conductor Lee Nelson of St. Cloud State Univ-ersity. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students in grades 6-12. Grade 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased from choir students or at the door.
Dairy Princess coronation
Five area young women will vie for the title of Becker County Dairy Princess this year, with the winner to be crowned tonight at 8 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes American Legion, 810 West Lake Drive. The public is invited.
Waubun flea market, craft fair
The Waubun American Legion Auxiliary Unit 436 hosts a flea market and craft fair on Saturday, April 5. For table reservations, call Mary at 218-734-2203.

John McAndrew concert
The Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes will host a concert by Nashville based singer/songwriter John McAndrew at 2 p.m., as the finale of a weeklong artist residency by McAndrew, sharing his music with area schools and organizations. The concert will include several songs featuring a chorus of local singers. Tickets for the show are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Call 218-844-SHOW to buy tickets or to sign up for the choir. Holmes Dance Club
The Holmes Dance Club is an informal, fun group that will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. to dance in the Holmes Ballroom at the Detroit Lakes Community & Cultural Center. Instructors Mari & Armand Radke will teach a few basic steps prior to the dance, and the rest of the afternoon will be spent dancing away. Music varies from waltzes to fox trots to swing and more. The atmosphere is casual and is open to all ages and all dance abilities. Admission is $5 for adults, free for students.

'A Case of Spring Fever'

Thursday, April 10
The Shrine Circus comes to Detroit Lakes' Freeman Arena for three shows today, at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. General admission is $5; doors open one hour before the start of each show.
