Callaway Days to celebrate city's centennial this year
Callaway is gearing up for a big celebration this summer. It is the centennial celebration of Callaway Days.
The usual daylong event will be extended one day to fit in all the activities.
"It's usually one day, but added two for the centennial," organizer Stacy Heinlein said.
New this year, June 15 will be an all-school reunion. A dinner, followed by karaoke, will be in the Callaway Liquor Store.
"If those who live in the area could please pass along the information to those out of the area," Heinlein said.
June 16 is filled with activities for everyone. It begins with a breakfast and then includes softball, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, a prince and princess pageant, car, motorcycle and tractor shows, craft and flea market, food vendors and kiddy carnival with prizes. And to top off the night, the fire department will host a dance with live music.
Heinlein said she and other organizers would like to add a parade to the lineup, but they need some help with personnel for organization. It would follow the kiddy parade. Organizers are still looking for vendors for the Arts in the Alley and food vendors. For more information, call Lisa at 847-6977.
The group is also looking for historical photos of Callaway and families. Copies (photos will not be sent back) can be sent to City of Callaway, PO Box 116, Callaway, MN 56521. Those wanting Welcome Home Dinner all-school reunion tickets can also send for them to the same address.
