Callaway man sentenced for drugs
A Callaway man was convicted and sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of third degree drug possession.
Caleb Timothy Lund, 23, of 108 Wisconsin St., Callaway, was ordered to serve 34 months (almost three years) in prison, with credit for 160 days served since his arrest, and must also pay $135 in court fines and fees.
Lund was arrested on West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes, at around 1:15 a.m. on March 1.
He was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for suspected DWI. While the arresting officer was administering field sobriety tests to the driver, he noticed Lund apparently slipping something out of his jacket pocket into the pocket of another, female passenger in the vehicle.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the officer found a baggie containing a crystal rock-like substance that later tested positive as containing about 4.3 grams of methamphetamine.
The baggie had been stashed on the vehicle’s bumper. The female passenger later admitted that she had put the baggie there after Lund had slipped it into her pocket.
