Cancer awareness hike is Oct. 11
The public is invited to attend a cancer awareness hike sponsored by The Laurentian Lakes Chapter of the North Country Trail Association on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The hike will begin at the Anchor Matson trailhead at 1 p.m. The trailhead is located on the Anchor Matson Road, which is about 5.5 miles east of Becker County Highway 37 or 7.5 miles west of US Highway 71 on State Highway Highway 113. The Anchor Matson Road is on the north side and the parking area is about 3 miles from the Highway.
There will be options of a two or three mile hike. At 5 p.m., the chapter will meet at the Elbow Lake Store for dinner.
When complete, the North Country National Scenic Trail will be the longest continuous hiking trail in the United Sates, spanning more than 4,600 miles. Designed as a premier hiking trail, similar to the Appalachian Trail, it links scenic, natural, recreation, historic, and cultural areas from New York to North Dakota.
The North Country Trail Association is a membership-driven, non-profit organization committed to developing, maintaining and promoting the North Country National Scenic Trail.
