Car lands upside-down in creek in north Moorhead
MOORHEAD - The driver of a car was hospitalized after he veered off the road and landed upside-down in a creek in north Moorhead at about 6:30 a.m. today.
Moorhead police say the driver, believed to be 18 years old, may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
A jogger who witnessed the crash told police the white Ford Taurus veered off a curve on Oakport Street across from M.B. Johnson Park and didn't appear to change direction as it went into the ravine, Sgt. Clint Stephenson said.
The driver was conscious and walking around when police arrived. F-M Ambulance took him to Sanford Medical Center with a possible concussion, but his injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening, Stephenson said.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, he said.
A towing service was working on removing the car from the creek.
