Jan. 9, 1990-Sept. 24, 2007
Casey T. Patton, 17, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes.
Casey Tyler Patton was born to Clyde and Debra (Hanson) Patton on Jan. 9, 1990 in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a mechanic at heart, and loved tearing his bike apart piece by piece and putting it back together. He was the happiest when he had a tool in his hands. Casey was extremely outgoing; playing with friends and riding his bike. He loved the outdoors. He was not the kind of child who would sit in the house watching TV or playing games. Even after his accident, his outgoing personality never failed.
Even though he couldn't touch things with his hands after his accident, he had a remarkable way of "touching" with his heart. Casey faced life head-on and did so like a champ; with nothing less than bravery and strength. With all that he endured, he became an inspiration to everyone that knew him.
Casey had tons of respect and love for all the nurses that cared for him. He was most definitely the "firecracker" of the family, with all of his jokes and his attempts to keep everyone around him on their toes!
Casey is survived by his mother, Debra Hanson and her fiancée, Richard Washington; two brothers, Shaun and Luke Patton; maternal grandmother, Lyn Hanson; paternal grandfather, Gordon Hanson; and great grandparents, Emelia and Harry Bertram, all of Detroit Lakes; as well as many aunts; one uncle; many cousins; and his dog, "Jovi."
Preceding Casey in death were his father, Clyde Patton; paternal grandparents, Robert and Nadine Thomas; and two uncles, Darren Hanson and Gordon Lynn Hanson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, which has been assisting the family with arrangements.
