Cash tribute in Ulen Saturday
This Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m., the Top Hat Theatre in Ulen presents a tribute to the music of Johnny Cash by Bob Wootton and Six Mile Grove, as part of its 2012-13 performing arts series.
Bob Wootton, the "man behind the man in black," played lead guitar for Johnny Cash from 1968 to 1998. As part of the original "Tennessee Three," Wootton has performed all over the world, from Folsom Prison to Buckingham Palace. Few people know Johnny Cash and his music as closely as Wootton does.
Wootton returned to the stage in January 2004, headlining a sold-out Cash tribute at The Cabooze in Minneapolis. He has been making regular appearances ever since, with the Minnesota-born band Six Mile Grove, who back Wootton and serve as his opening act. Their energetic style complements Wootton's laid-back stage presence. Six Mile Grove's brand of ballads and story-driven songs pays tribute to the simplicity and genius of Johnny Cash.
The Top Hat Theatre is located inside the Ulen-Hitterdal School in Ulen. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and are available now at the school office, or by phone to 218-596-8853.
