Cass Lake man stabbed; suspect has been charged
A 20-year-old Cass Lake man is being treated at a Duluth, Minn., hospital for injuries he sustained in a stabbing early Thursday morning.
The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a stabbing at 12:19 a.m. Thursday at a hospital in Cass Lake in Cass Lake, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
It was learned that Gee-sis-ne-me-win Roberts had been stabbed while at a residence on Wildwood Road in Farden Township, the press release said.
Roberts was taken to the hospital and then transferred to St Mary's Hospital in Duluth for injuries to his left arm, the press release said.
Deputies believe Roberts was at a party when the suspect, Tony Michael Winslow, 29, of Minneapolis, became upset and punched Roberts in the head, the press release said.
Winslow then grabbed a steak knife and chased Roberts, eventually stabbing Roberts as he was leaving the residence, the press release said. Roberts ran out to the roadway and called his brother to take him to the hospital.
Deputies returned to the same residence and arrested Winslow without incident.
Winslow was charged Thursday with first-degree and second-degree assault. Bail was set at $150,000 without conditions or $100,000 with conditions.
Assisting Hubbard County deputies in the matter were officers from the Cass County Sheriff's Office and Leech Lake Tribal Police.
The incident remains under investigation.
