'Cats' coming to Fargodome Feb. 10

Heralded as New York City's longest-running improvisational comedy show, Chicago City Limits comes to the Historic Holmes Theatre stage in Detroit Lakes for one night only, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8. This troupe has thrilled audiences for over 25 years with its unique style of "comedy without a net." Warm up to the exciting sounds of some of Fargo-Moorhead's finest jazz musicians with a concert of Dixieland Jazz on Friday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. in the ITOW Veterans' Museum, Perham.  Performing as Ministry of Jazz, the group includes Harley Sommerfeld-Saxophone, Ed Christianson-Trombone, John Pederson-Trumpet, Kent Karch-Upright Bass, Kathy Brekke-Keyboards/Vocal and Joe Riewer-Drums.   Members perform regularly at Jazz Night at Basie's in Fargo. In the summer they can be heard at Jasper's Jubilee Theatre in Park Rapids.  The ITOW Veterans Museum is located at 805 West Main, Perham. The calligraphy designs of Detroit Lakes artist Douglas J. Fliss are on display through Jan. 31 at the Detroit Lakes Public Library. A former partner in the Fargo-based liturgical art studio StudioWorks LLC, which designed and produced stained glass windows and mosaics for churches, Fliss is a graduate of the commercial art program at Minnesota State Community & Technical College and the Concordia College studio arts program. He worked closely with renowned regional artist David Hetland for over 30 years.

The 49th annual Red River Valley Coin and Stamp Show is Jan. 24-25 in Doublewood Inn, Fargo. It is the largest coin and stamp show in the Upper Midwest. Featuring over 50 tables and 30 dealers from six states.
