Chamber banquet at Detroit Lakes Pavilion this year
The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce is trying something a little different for its annual banquet this year.
Instead of holding the event outside of town at a resort, it will take place at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion on Thursday, May 7.
Chamber President Kris Tovson said the thought was to keep it within Detroit Lakes this year and the Pavilion seemed a perfect fit, especially with the theme being a "Beach Party".
"It's a great time, hopefully, to celebrate the business success that some of our members have achieved," Tovson said.
As part of the party, there will be an awards presentation starting at 7:15 p.m. There will be awards for both businesses that have been in operation for several years, as well as new businesses that recently got off the ground running.
Tovson said that outgoing Board of Directors would also be recognized.
The banquet starts with a social at 5:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:15. The Convent on Reeves will cater the meal. Live music and entertainment is also slated, with local favorite Tim Eggebraaten playing.
"It's been a long, hard winter, and we'd like people to come and have fun," Tovson said.
Tickets to the banquet are $25 and can be purchased at the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce office at 700 Summit Ave.
