Chamber to host economic development summit
The Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its Third Annual Economic Development Summit Tuesday, March 30. This year, the chamber has teamed with local sponsors and communities to bring nationally renowned keynote speaker, Cinda Baxter to Detroit Lakes.
Baxter is the founder of "The 3/50 Project." She will discuss her marketing campaign urging consumers to pick three local businesses they don't want to disappear and spend $50 a month among them.
March 30 will mark the one-year anniversary of the launch of the 3/50 project. Now more than 16,000 businesses from every state have signed up to be a part of this grass roots effort.
Among many acolades, Cinda Baxter was recently highlighted in the business section of the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Feb. 1, 2010, discussing The 3/50 project, its development and the impact it has made in one year's time.
The Economic Development Summit will be held at M State in Detroit Lakes from 8 to 11:45 am.
Other agenda items include: updates on the local 3/50 project, BES and SCORE updates, City of Detroit Lakes development plans, and the expansion of the St. Mary's Innovis Campus.
