Chamber to host second economic development summit on March 12

"Community Based Entrepreneurship" is key topic at the Second Annual Economic Development Summit.
Kris Tovson, Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce president, and Ladd Lyngaas, chairman of the Economic Development Committee and president of Wells Fargo Bank, are pleased to announce March 12 as the date set for the next Economic Development Summit to be held at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
Keynote speaker Dave Ivan with Community and Economic Development Programs, Michigan State University Extension, will present what it takes to grow business in smaller towns.
Ivan will explore necessary community beliefs and attitudes. How can the community support those willing to take risks by beginning a new venture? Are the youth given opportunities to participate in the community and business activities?
This captive speaker will keep your attention with his fast paced Power point presentation, useful information and engaging sense of humor.
Also included in the morning's agenda are two local business success stories and updates from the city and county on the progress regarding the RDG redevelopment plans for the Crescent and other areas.
