Charlotte Hendrickson

Charlotte H. Hendrickson, 87, of Lake Park, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in Hawley Senior Living, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Hawley Senior Living, with her family by her side.

Charlotte Harriet Anderson was born to Oscar and Molly (Olson) Anderson on October 1, 1924, in Eglon Township, where she grew up and attended school until the fourth grade. Her family then moved to Twin Valley, where she attended school until she was a junior.

In her younger years, Charlotte worked as a waitress. On August 20, 1944, she married Kermit Hendrickson in the parsonage in Twin Valley. Together they farmed where she enjoyed gardening, canning and helping milk cows. Kermit died on December 30, 1997.

Charlotte was active in many activities, including Lake Park Lutheran Church Quilters and Ladies Aide, Tops and Senior Club. Charlotte also enjoyed baking and made the best buns. While at Hawley Senior Living, she enjoyed playing bingo, sing-along, and bean bag toss as well as visiting with the staff and residents.

Charlotte also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Duluth, Medora, Tacoma, Wash., Las Vegas, Nev., Florida, Arizona, the Hawaiian Islands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark as well as taking cruises to Alaska and the Bahamas.

Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and made it her top priority to make it to all her grandchildren's events. Charlotte also enjoyed the annual family reunion, where she said the table prayer in Norwegian. Blessed be the memory of Charlotte. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Surviving Charlotte are five sons, Ronald (Mary) of Lake Park, Darwin (Cindy) of Frazee, Owen of Lake Park, Kevin (Ruth) of Lake Park and Duane "Lars," also of Lake Park; three daughters, Ilo Hendrickson of Detroit Lakes, Julie (Randy) Boyer of Moorhead and Darla (Ken) Maves of Frazee; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Anderson of Twin Valley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; brother, Morris Anderson; sisters, Ruby Evanson and Ardis Selseth; and sister-in-law, Alice Hendrickson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Lake Park Lutheran Church Quilters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 in Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with interment in the church cemetery.
