Chesney, Rascal Flatts to headline next WE Fest
The 25th Anniversary WE Fest celebration, "Heaven in 2007," is going to be a tough act to follow -- but festival organizers are already "Feelin' Great about 2008," as they confirmed this week that Rascal Flatts will join Kenny Chesney as headliners for the 26th annual event.
"It's great to have Rascal Flatts back, especially now that they have the No. 1 country album on the Billboard charts," said Jeff Krueger, president and CEO of Festivals And Concert Events (FACE), Inc., which operates WE Fest.
Rascal Flatts, which will be making its fifth appearance at WE Fest in 2008, has had quite a year. In addition to having a chart-topping album, the trio was crowned as the Academy of Country Music's Top Vocal Group for 2007 -- the fifth year in a row that they have received the honor.
With five studio albums to their credit -- including the aforementioned chart-topper, "Still Feels Good" -- the trio of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney has secured their spot among the top acts in country music today.
Chesney, no stranger to the WE Fest lineup either, is the reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year. He also happens to have the current No. 1 country single on the Billboard charts, "Don't Blink" -- and for all you trivia lovers out there, Chesney is the writer of "Still Feels Good," the chart-topping Rascal Flatts single for which Rascal Flatts' latest album is named. by none other than Rascal Flatts.
WE Fest 2008 is set to take place Aug. 7-9, at the Soo Pass Ranch south of Detroit Lakes. Watch www.wefest.com for updates as new acts are added to the lineup.
Last year's festival was completely sold out, with all reserved seating and campgrounds filling up well in advance, so it's never too early to reserve your spot. For ticket and camping information, call 218-847-1681, 1-800-4WE-Fest or visit the official Web site online at www.wefest.com.
