Church raises funds for Food Pantry
Last year, Tiffany Thompson and Linda Schons hosted a fundraiser and proceeds went to the Becker County Food Pantry.
This year they are organizing another one in March so the food pantry can take advantage of the Food Share Month and double its donations.
Thompson said they held the fundraiser in November last year because they “wanted to give families food for Thanksgiving.”
This time around, they’ll be providing for even more families.
Food for Fun is Sunday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Holy Rosary gymnasium. There will be food, shopping and fun.
A number of vendors will be on hand at the bazaar-style fundraiser. Some include Tupperware, Celebrating Homes, Watkins, U.S. Born Book, Thirty-One, Mary Kay, It Works, Paparazzi Jewelry and more. Vendors pay to be at the fundraiser, and then all the money is donated to the food pantry.
Along with the vendors, there will be coffee, rolls and juice in the morning, and pop and slices of pizza at noon. They are all free-will donation.
“When people get out of church, they want to get coffee and rolls,” Schons said.
Though it’s being held at the catholic church on Sunday morning, it is open to the public.
Chances at door prizes will also be earned with the donation of non-perishable food items or monetary donations.
