After a day filled with interviews and debate, the Detroit Lakes City Council made a motion to negotiate with City Administrator Rich Grabow's replacement.
The city authorized Jim Brimeyer, The Brimeyer Group, Inc., to negotiate with Bob Louiseau. Louiseau serves as Perham city manager and has served as community development director for Detroit Lakes from 1983-1990.
Council members, Mayor Larry Buboltz and Public Utilities Commission representative Mitch Wimmer spent Saturday interviewing five candidates for the position. Grabow will be retiring the end of September.
After discussion and narrowing the field to two candidates, the men debated qualities in the two candidates before unanimously supporting the negotiation for Louiseau.
If accepted, Louiseau will begin his role as Detroit Lakes city administrator Oct. 1.
