Civil lawsuit filed for death
Detroit Lakes Minnesota 511 Washington Avenue 56501

A wrongful death civil lawsuit has been filed in Becker County District Court against Kenneth Eugene Andersen by Leslie Fain, trustee for the next of kin of Chad James Swedberg, who was murdered while processing maple syrup near his home on April 13, 2007.

Andersen is serving life in prison for the shooting death, though he continues to maintain his innocence.

The civil suit, filed Monday, alleges that Andersen shot and killed Swedberg in the woods near his home and cites negligence and battery as causes for action in seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

Charles A. Seuntjens of the Detroit Lakes office of the Pemberton Law Firm is representing the plaintiffs. No attorney was listed for Andersen.
