CL-B ends Indians' playoff run
THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. - Martin Wind came up big down the stretch as Cass Lake-Bena defeated Mahnomen 86-74 in the semifinals of the Minnesota Section 8-1A boys basketball tournament at Ralph Engelstad Arena-TRF.
With Mahnomen leading by one point and less than three minutes left in the game, Wind hit the first of three straight 3-pointers to push the Panthers to victory.
"It was an absolute slugfest the first 34 minutes of the game," Mahnomen coach John Clark Jr. said. "I don't think either team was up by more than four or five points until the end."
Wind finished with 24 points for CL-B (25-4).
Brandon White led all scorers with 32 points for the Indians (19-7).
"He's coming off a 47-point game," Clark said of White. "He's got a great all-around game. He's got a good mid-range jumper and can pull up from anywhere in the gym."
CL-B will face Northern Freeze in the section final on Friday in Thief River Falls.
