Clair W. Wenger, 64, of Detroit Lakes, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his residence.

Clair Wilmer Wenger was born to J. Wilmer and Alice (Stutzman) Wenger on June 12, 1948 in Detroit Lakes. He attended rural school at Height of Land, and later attended Frazee schools, graduating from Frazee High School in 1967. He was very active in FFA in high school. He was drafted and served two years of service in a hospital in Evanston, Ill.

Clair married the love of his life, Carolyn Anderson on October 10, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. They moved onto the family farm in rural Detroit Lakes, where he continued farming and milking cows. He worked at the Audubon Co-Op Elevator for several years and then at the Frazee Co-Op Elevator.

He bought Don Lefebvre's cattle truck and began on farm pick up and hauling of livestock to West Fargo Central Livestock continuing from 1982-2000. He sold his cows and went to work for Audubon Engineering and later, Vareberg Well Drilling. When it was to cold for drilling he worked for Seaberg's for two years. In 2002 he started his most recent job of driving milk truck for Perham Co-Op.

Surviving Clair are his wife of 42 years, Carolyn; three daughters (and two sons-in-law) Rachel Wenger, of Santa Fe, N.M., Stephanie (Glen) Kadelbach of Hutchinson, Minn., and Christie (Duane) Simon of Horace, N.D.; five grandchildren, Sonorra, Gavin, and Megan Simon, and Conrad and Kendra Kadelbach; one sister, Loris Wenger of Frazee; niece, Kayla Pavlacky; three sisters-in-law, Joan (Mark) Buchhop of Grand Forks, N.D., Vivian (Marvin B.) Anderson of Frazee and Linda (Jim) Dammann of Schulyer, Neb.; brother-in-law, Jimmie (Deann) Anderson of Frazee; uncle and aunt, Rudy and Lois Stutzman of Fargo; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother, Daniel.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 in Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.

Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Height of Land Township.
