Former Frazee resident Clara L. Quittschreiber, 94, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Clara was born to Herman and Anna Ziemann on Oct. 17, 1914 in Evergreen Township, rural Frazee, and attended School District 53, No. 1 in Evergreen Township. She married Elmer Quittschreiber on May 15, 1934. In 1940, they bought a farm in Silverleaf Township, and lived there until they moved to Frazee in 1960.
Clara was an excellent seamstress and also baked many wedding cakes. She and Elmer cared for many foster children over the years. Clara was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Evergreen, and later joined Bethlehem Lutheran in Frazee.
Surviving Clara are her daughters, Donna Schwarzrock of Frazee, Rose Wendt of Detroit Lakes, Marian (Roman) Wendt of Frazee and Caroline (Don) Schmidt of Detroit Lakes; 14 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; five step-great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Lena Schultz of Allan, Texas.
Preceding Clara in death were her husband, Elmer Quittschreiber; grandson, Ronald Wendt; sons-in-law, Edward Schwarzrock and Reuben Wendt, three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee; and will continue for one hour prior to the start of services at the church on Friday.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee, with the Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Frazee.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.
