Class on growing veggie gardens in NYM
Kathy Connell, master gardener and owner of Redfern Gardens in Sebeka, will give the second of a series of four workshops on gardening in preparation for spring planting this Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m., as part of the Continental Divide Folk School at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center.
This class will talk about selecting the varieties that meet your needs, choosing the right containers to grow in, what kinds of growing mediums, and handling and hardening off.
Do you know when to start tomatoes or peppers? What else can you grow from transplants? This workshop is offered free of charge, courtesy of the members of the Cultural Center.
Two more workshops will be offered on Thursday evenings: growing berries on March 6 and raised bed gardening on March 13. These two workshops begin at 6 p.m., and are also free and open to the public.
