Clay County DWI crackdown results in 41 arrests in July
MOORHEAD - Clay County authorities arrested 41 people for driving while intoxicated during a Safe & Sober campaign conducted in July with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
More than 400 Minnesota law enforcement agencies participated in the effort.
"When you drink and drive, you are gambling on your future and public safety," Moorhead police Lt. Joel Scharf said in a news release. "No matter how many times you've driven impaired and made it home, one mistake can change your life forever."
From 2004 to 2006, Clay County had five impaired-driving deaths and 2,331 DWI arrests. Roughly one in eight Minnesotans has a DWI on their driving record, according to the news release.
