Clayton J. Aaser, 83, of McVille, N.D., died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Clayton James Aaser was born to Louis and Emma (Gustafson) Aaser on June 11, 1925 in rural McVille. On Dec. 5, 1944 he married Amie Flaagan at McVille. Clayton spent his life farming and served on numerous committees and boards in the McVille area.
Clayton was president of the McVille School Board and was very proud to award two of his children, Robert Zelda, their high school diplomas. Clayton worked at Our Own Hardware in McVille and the ASC office in Lakota. He was a member of the KP Lodge, McVille Fire Department, Elks Club, Eagles Club, Nelson County Historical Society and the McVille Lutheran Church.
Surviving Clayton are his wife of 64 years, Amie Aaser of McVille; his four children, Roslyn (Richard) Helgeson of Faribault, Minn., Robert Aaser of Bullhead City, Ariz., Zelda (Duane) Bellefeuille of Detroit Lakes and Jackie (Lynn) Gudmundson of Clear Lake S.D.; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Leo (Shirley) Aaser of Pelican Rapids.
Preceding Clayton in death were his parents; daughter Deborah; two brothers, Mylo and Einor; and one nephew, Roger Aaser.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6 at the McVille Lutheran Church in McVille.
Interment will be in the Center Cemetery, rural McVille. The Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille is handling arrangements.
