Commissioner race contested; filing closes Tuesday
There is now a contested race in Becker County commissioner district 2. Mark Hagedorn is challenging incumbent Ben Grimsley for a seat on the County Board.
Hagedorn filed Wednesday.
Others who have filed for county office include: Darin Halvorson and Mary E. Hendrickson both filed for the Becker County auditor-treasurer position.
The auditor-treasurer position has been vacant since Ryan Tangen took a job with the Detroit Lakes School District earlier this year.
Commissioner Larry Knutson has filed and does not have a challenger.
County Attorney Gretchen Thilmoney, who was appointed to the post earlier this year, has filed for election to her first full term.
Two have filed for county recorder: Sandra (Sandee) Listul and Patricia Swenson. Long-time Becker County Recorder Darlene Maneval plans to retire.
And two have also filed for county sheriff: Tim Clements and Todd Glander.
Sheriff Kelly Shannon doesn’t plan to run for election. He was appointed to the job two years ago after former Sheriff Tim Gordon resigned.
Eugene Pavelko and Jerome Flottemesch have filed for two seats on the Becker Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
Filing will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3.
The filing fee is $50 for county offices and $20 for Soil and Water Conservation District supervisor.
A primary election will be held Aug. 12 for those offices with more than two candidates.
City council and school board elections will also be held Nov. 4. Filing for those races will be July 29 to Aug. 12.
