Community follows yellow brick road

Nearly 400 people from around the region attended a free big-screen showing of the 1939 classic film "The Wizard of Oz" on Sunday, March 30, at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes. This event was sponsored by Arvig Communication Systems, Turner Classic Movies and the Holmes Theatre.

Those in attendance had a chance to get their photos taken with the movie characters, including Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.

Prizes were also handed out including six Nike gym bags, a Minnesota Twins prize pack, four tickets to The Tweaksters on April 18 at the Holmes Theatre, and an Apple iPod Nano. The grand-prize of a Sony digital camcorder went to Chantelle Lysne of Perham.
