Concert Friday Dec. 6th in DL
This Friday, Dec. 6, fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Tim Sparks and world music maestro Greg Herriges will take their audience on a musical journey from the Mississippi Delta Blues to Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite,” with exotic flavors from Brazil, Eastern Europe and India.
“A Winter Wandering: A Guitar Celebration of Music from Around the World” will be presented at Detroit Lakes’ Historic Holmes Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
This show is underwritten by Bell State Bank & Trust, with additional funding through Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
“Winter Wandering” is a musical excursion through many cultures and celebrations.
Sparks will play his acclaimed solo guitar adaptation of the dances from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite,” including “The March of the Toy Soldiers” and “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies.”
Herriges will open with celebration music from many traditions around the world, and the two will join together for some special duets of holiday favorites like “Carol of the Bells.”
