North Dakota State head football coach Craig Bohl appears close to signing a new five-year contract.

NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor said he and Bohl have agreed in principle, but are waiting on some legal details.

"We're just waiting to get some information from his attorney," Taylor said. "It should be a pretty done deal."

Taylor said the contract will be similar to the one Bohl signed in 2008, which called for a base salary of $174,000 (with yearly raises) plus incentives, that if all were reached, would approach $300,000. His base salary this season is $188,200.

Taylor said Bohl's contractual bonus for the team's run in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs last fall was $10,000. Each Bison assistant coach received $3,000 in travel vouchers via contracts.

The new deal for Bohl would become effective in July and run through 2016. He's 61-30 in eight seasons at NDSU.

"We're working through it right now," Bohl said. "The final touches probably need to get worked out, but I think we have a pretty good agreement there."
