Contracts awarded in LP-A school project
The Lake Park-Audubon Board of Education held not just one, but two meetings this week, with both of them taking place in the high school media center in Lake Park.
The biggest order of business concerned the awarding of bids for renovations at the LP-A Elementary building in Audubon.
The board approved a total of $269,580 in contracts for various renovations to the elementary building, including the conversion of a computer lab into classroom space and the reconfiguring of the lunchroom and media center areas to better accommodate the school’s burgeoning enrollment.
“It gives us another classroom that will address our enrollment needs for the fall of 2014,” said LP-A Superintendent Dale Hogie following Tuesday’s special meeting, which is when the bids were awarded.
“We will have three sections in each of grades K-4 next year,” he added, noting that this necessitated the addition of another third grade classroom.
At Monday’s regular board meeting, the board approved a preliminary district budget for fiscal year 2015 that included $7,409,323 in projected revenues and $7,326,683 in expenditures, for an anticipated surplus of $82,460.
Also on Monday, the board approved a three-year employment contract with Superintendent Hogie that included a 4 percent salary increase for each year and an increase in the number of accumulated sick leave days from 100 to 140. His new contract will expire on June 30, 2017.
A contract was also approved for Don Donarski as the district’s student success coordinator, at a salary of $56,554.
The following fall sports coaching positions were also approved at Tuesday’s special meeting: Football, Brad Dunham (head coach), Nick Paur, Alex Becher, Trevor Seaman (assistants), Cole Wixo and Beau Kirkwood (junior high); Volleyball, Jamie Nelson (head coach), Katy Ness, Jeanette Larson, Kristina Gordon (assistants), Lori Wixo and Robyn Madson (junior high); cross country, Clare Danner.
