County Road 54 construction faces delays
Residents living along County Road 54 in the Hidden Hills area southeast of Detroit Lakes will have to put up with road construction for another 10 days at least.
The road reconstruction project from 310th Avenue to County Road 29 was originally supposed to be completed by Saturday.
Motorists currently are being detoured through Frazee and up to County Road 29.
Becker County Highway Engineer Brad Wentz said that the delays are due to Central Specialties, Inc. getting a late start, plus the poor weather in October.
Wentz said that grading should be finished by Friday, with gravel work taking place next week.
He said that the contractor would have to pay a per-day penalty until the project is completed.
