The following items were taken from reports at the Becker County Sheriff's Department and Detroit Lakes Police Department.

Monday, Oct. 20

• At 4:48 a.m. an attic fire was reported in a home on the 49000 block of 280th Ponsford. Carsonville firefighters were on the scene for three hours. Wolf Lake firefighters were there for two hours.

• At 12:28 p.m. a break-in was reported at a garage at the old Pine Point School. A 5-gallon gas can and an air tank were taken, among other items.

• At 1:56 p.m. a man on the 1000 block of Minnesota Avenue reported the theft of a 1977 12-foot aluminum boat, taken from Big Detroit Lake, where it had been padlocked and chained to a pier.

• At 2:22 p.m. White Earth Housing employees reported that kids had broken a propane line at a residence in rural Waubun.

• At 2:31 p.m. the theft of license plates was reported from a vehicle parked at a welding business on the 1000 block of Legion Road.

• At 6:05 p.m. Frazee and Detroit Lakes firefighters responded to a call of a basement filled with smoke on the 30000 block of County Road 54. They were on the scene for about half an hour.

• At 8:37 p.m. Detroit Lakes police received reports of a Subaru Forester "all over the road" on Highway 59 and then nearly hitting a parked car near Rossman School.

•A 45-year-old man was arrested for fourth-degree DWI.

Thursday, Oct. 23

• At 9:27 a.m. a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora was reported stolen from the 600 block of Bowling Avenue in Detroit Lakes. It was found at 2:21 a.m., crashed in a ditch on Willow Street east of Highway 59.

Saturday, Oct. 25

• At 11:29 a.m. an employee at the White Earth clinic called law enforcement wanting to talk to an officer about an altercation that had occurred Wednesday night or Thursday morning between a 27-year-old rural Waubun man and a 23-year-old Waubun man. The White Earth Police Department is investigating.

• At 2:16 p.m. a citation was issued after two boys were reported fighting in a classroom at the Frazee-Vergas High School.

• At 4:47 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported that a Remington 700 "204 caliber" rifle with scope had been stolen from his pickup truck on the 46000 block of County Road 26, in the Pine Point area.

Sunday, Oct. 26

• At 7:38 a.m. an Ogema woman reported the theft of a radio and CDs.

• At 8:40 a.m. a domestic assault/strangulation was reported by a Lake Park woman against her boyfriend. It had occurred the previous night.

• At 9:28 a.m. an Ogema man reported the theft of a 1994 Mercury Sable from the 21000 block of County Road 155.

• At 6:56 p.m. a Detroit Lakes man reported a shed door had been pried open on St. Mary's of the Lakes Road. Taken were an Ariens snowblower and a Mathews bow, with arrows and quills.

• At 9:45 p.m. an employee with the Park Rapids hospital reported that there was a man being treated in the ICU for injuries suffered in an ATV accident in the Smokey Hills.

According to the Becker County Sheriff's Department:

• Between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., Mark Harlan Olson, 48, of Osage had been driving a 2004 Artic Cat 400 ATV eastbound on the Smokey Hills Trail, just east of County Road 39. He was leading a group of five ATVs riding the trail. While traveling down a hill, the ATV tire got caught in a rut, causing him to lose control and be thrown from the ATV.

The ATV did not sustain any damage.  Olson drove the ATV back to his residence and then was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids, by private vehicle. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  

Monday, Oct. 26

• At 3:35 a.m. a White Earth man reported a domestic assault.

• At 6:45 a.m. a man was injured after his vehicle hit a tree in the vicinity of County Road 34 and County Road 310 in west Sugar Bush Township. An ambulance crew was on the scene for about an hour.

• At 5:50 p.m. a Frazee man reported a trailer house was on fire next to the Toad Lake Store. Frazee and Wolf Lake firefighters were on the scene for about an hour, as were EMS workers from St. Mary's.

• At 6:44 p.m. a resident on the 900 block of Summit Avenue in Detroit Lakes reported that about 30 campaign yard signs had been found, for a wide variety of candidates.

A number of yard sign thefts had been reported earlier in Detroit Lakes. The recovered signs were taken to the Detroit Lakes Police Department garage.

Tuesday, Oct. 27

• At 10:17 a.m. an employee at the front desk at St. Mary's Innovis Health reported an intoxicated woman who was refusing to leave. Officers found the woman passed out in a chair. St. Mary's made arrangements for Pine Manor treatment center to pick her up.

• At 12:08 p.m. Detroit Lakes firefighters responded to the 20000 block of County Road 131, where a power line had fallen on a tree and started a fire. They were on the scene for only about five minutes.

• At 1:47 p.m. an Ogema woman reported she was assaulted and her vehicle stolen from a residence on Surgeon Drive. The vehicle was stopped north of Waubun.

• At 8:41 p.m. a possible chimney fire was reported on the 2900 block of Highway 113. Firefighters from Elbow Lake-Tulaby were on the scene for about an hour.

Wednesday, Oct. 28

• An accident with injuries was reported on County Road 7 near the cemetery in Cuba Township, rural Lake Park. Details were not available.
