Crime & Accidents
The following items were taken from reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department.
Friday, Jan. 16
At 10:37 a.m., a Becker County Sheriff's deputy assisted White Earth Tribal officers when threats were made to staff at the Indian Child Welfare Office.
At 4:25 p.m., a house fire was reported in the Cormorant area. Flames were coming out of the roof. The Lake Park and Audubon fire departments responded, as did Lake Park Rescue and St. Mary's EMS.
At 4:55 p.m., a Wadena woman backed into a Detroit Lakes woman's parked vehicle. There were no injuries.
At 9:08 p.m., a woman reported her purse being taken at Wal-Mart after it had been left in the bathroom. After reviewing surveillance tape, the purse was found and returned to the woman. There was no theft.
Saturday, Jan. 17
At 8:29 a.m., a vehicle accident was reported along Highway 10, west of Sunnyside. Minnesota State Patrol was contacted, and all passengers were already out of the vehicle.
At 9:54 a.m., Central Market reported a female shoplifter. She had stolen $16.22 worth of food items.
At 11:39 a.m., a Mahnomen man and Mahnomen woman were involved in a vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 34. There were no injuries.
At 5:10 p.m., a vehicle was reported in the ditch a quarter mile east of Detroit Lakes.
At 5:12 p.m., an accident was reported along County Highway 47. I semi-truck had rolled, but the driver was okay. Otter Tail County officials handled the accident.
At 5:17 p.m., a Frazee woman and Callaway man were involved in a vehicle accident at Roosevelt Avenue and Oak Street. There were no injuries, but a stop sign was knocked down.
Sunday, Jan. 18
At 6:31 a.m., an accident was reported along County Road 158. There was a vehicle in the ditch, but no one around.
At 1:52 p.m., DL Marine, County Highway 6, reported someone had broken into the business and a snowmobile was stolen.
At 3:23 p.m., a vehicle accident was reported near Osage. There were no injuries.
At 6:31 p.m., a Detroit Lakes woman reported her brief case containing her cell phone were stolen from her vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Monday, Jan. 19
At 1:46 a.m., a Height of Land Lake resident reported two snowmobiles going into the water. The snowmobilers had gotten out safely and were at the caller's house.
at 3:55 p.m., a vehicle on fire was reported along Elbow Lake Road. The Elbow Lake/Tullaby Fire Department responded.
at 8:35 p.m., a rollover accident was reported along County Road 37. There were no injuries.
Tuesday, Jan. 20
at 7:12 a.m., a snowplow hit a pole in Ogema and broke a window at the old hardware store.
