Crime and accident report for the lakes area
The following items were taken from incident reports at the Detroit Lakes Police Department and Becker County Sheriff's Department:
Wednesday, April 18
At 7:59 a.m. a car and school bus collided near Rossman Elementary School. There were no injuries.
At 7:56 a.m. a woman reported a stolen wallet, containing $110 cash, on the 800 block of Summit Avenue. A tackle box was also taken from a truck parked in the garage.
At 7:24 a.m. a man reported the theft of a wallet from a car parked overnight on the 800 block of Summit Avenue. It contained $150 cash, credit card and other items.
At 5:14 p.m. the same man was transported to jail on a hold order from the Department of Corrections. He was intoxicated, upset and ranting about the police not doing anything when he gets robbed.
At 11:17 a.m. a staffer at Solutions (for behavioral problems) reported problems with a person receiving inpatient services.
Friday, April 20
At 3:40 p.m. a woman in Cuba Township reported the theft of $700 cash from a room that she rents.
At 9 p.m. a woman at the Barbara Avenue apartments reported a fight in a nearby apartment between two 20-year-old women.
At 10:08 p.m. an ambulance hit a deer on Highway 10 and County Road 103 between Audubon and Lake Park.
At 10:37 p.m. a man on the 1900 block of Bridgeview Boulevard reported a car was parked in the middle of his driveway, with a person inside, maybe sleeping. Police arrested a 49-year-old man for 4th degree DWI.
At 10:15 p.m. the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo reported it was treating a rural Lake Park man for an accidental gunshot wound.
At 11:04 p.m. an attempted vehicle break-in was reported on the 39000 block of County Road 21 near White Earth. The car alarm scared off the would-be thief.
Saturday, April 21
At 1:04 a.m. an ambulance from North Country Regional Hospital in Park Rapids hit two deer on Highway 34 just east of Toad Lake.
The ambulance, which had been transporting a patient, was immobilized and another ambulance had to come finish transporting the patent.
At 10:40 p.m. staff at the emergency room in Detroit Lakes reported problems with a 25-year-old disorderly woman, who broke some equipment and tried to assault a nurse.
Sunday, April 22
At 1:14 a.m. a woman reported being assaulted by her brother in South Round Lake Township.
At 11:12 p.m. items were reported stolen from a boat on the 2000 block of Second Street in Lake Park. Taken were a marine battery, fishing equipment, lifejackets and other items.
Monday, April 23
At 7:57 a.m. residents reported that a vehicle had hit and damaged a retaining wall at a residence on the 400 block of Lake Street in Frazee.
At 9:33 a.m. the theft of two utility vehicles and a 20-foot trailer were reported from Newman Manufacturing in Audubon.
Tuesday, April 24
At 10:30 a.m. a cabin was forcibly entered and rummaged through in North Round Lake Township. A rock had been thrown through a front window and a door was kicked in. The incident occurred between April 5 and April 22.
Friday, April 27
At 10:09 p.m. emergency room staff in Detroit Lakes called police because they were concerned about a patient with a knife. The 25-year-old man was arrested on two warrants and the knife went to his girlfriend for safekeeping.
Saturday, April 28
At 2:54 p.m. a 22-year-old woman reported her purse had been stolen from a car parked behind Quizno's.
Monday, April 30
At 1:19 p.m. a cabin break-in was reported on the 35000 block of Elbow Lake Road in North Round Lake Township.
Taken were an air conditioner, three push mowers, a battery wall clock with a deer face and some chicken wire.
At 4:22 p.m. a burglary was reported in Green Valley Township. A man reported that his sister had gone to the home of their deceased uncle and taken a lawnmower, water pump, washing machine and clothes dryer.
Tuesday, May 1
At 11:04 a.m. a resident at Sunnyside Nursing center reported the theft of $100 cash from a locked drawer.
At 11:53 a.m. a cabin break-in was reported on Tulaby Lake Road in Eagle View Township. Taken were several guns and a 32-inch flat screen TV set. The break-in occurred sometime after April 23.
At 12:16 p.m. a cabin burglary was reported on Sherbrooke Beach Lane on Lake Ida. Taken was a 12-inch DeWalt compound miter saw.
